Pay per click advertising (PPC)
Google Adwords is an example of Pay per Click advertising. Using Google
Adwords you can generate traffic to your site by paying to be a sponsored link
for selected keywords. You have probably already noticed when you go to
and do a search on Google that at the side of the page (and sometimes the top) is
a list of sponsored links. These are people that have paid Google via
Google Adwords to appear on the search engine page. This is often used by
start up businesses to generate traffic to their website
in the early stages of growth and before the website appears sufficiently
high on search engines to generate traffic.
The steps starting a Google Adwords Account
Select your desired key words (ie what words do you think people will
put into Google to find you)
Design an advertisement aimed at the above key words . Your
advertisement can have 25 characters in the heading and then two lines of 35
characters. As well you list your web address and the web address of
your landing page. When you get on the Google Adwords page it will help
you with this.
Design your landing page: This is the page people will come to when
they click on your advertisement. This page needs to be able to sell your
benefits very quickly.
Develop your Advertising budget. the key two decisions you need
to make are how much you are prepared to spend per day (from $1.00 up) and how
much you are prepared to pay for each click (possibly you could start from 1
cent but practically it may be a starting point of 5 cents per click or above.
